A Mid-Life Pivot Into AI ! Is It Too Late?
In early 2025, when I decided to step back from the education business which my wife and I had run for years, I kept thinking: the days ahead couldn't simply be retirement. Looking back on half a lifetime :career, business, entrepreneurship, ups and downs, I didn't know which way to go next.
Shaken and Confused at an AI Conference
In February 2025, I attended an "AI Entrepreneurship" conference in Kuala Lumpur. Hundreds of attendees, almost all in their twenties and thirties, talking AI, automation, online marketing, sharp minds, bright eyes. Facing this crowd of young talent in their prime, I suddenly realized: the AI world was already full of strong players. At my age, starting from zero, with zero experience, was it too late?
The Second Half of Life Shouldn't Just Be an Exit
Soon enough, that old fighting spirit kicked in again. In the past, I started from the bottom and worked my way up to management; later in business, I caught a few good waves and made real gains. The second half of life shouldn't just be an exit, it's a different arena. In this era of AI opportunity, why should it belong only to the young? As long as you're willing to learn, it's never too late to start.
Six Months of Rapid Growth: Riding the AI Wave
In the end, I set out to learn AI marketing from scratch - page design, copywriting, video editing, automation workflows. I'll admit I'm still not great at all of it, but I've grasped the core of building a marketing funnel and started applying it for real clients. I share this journey not to boast, but to prove one thing: when it comes to AI marketing, our generation can do this beautifully too.
My Professional Journey
1991 – 1997
Worked as a bank handling loan matters, later as office admin staff managing daily operations. From the most basic work, I learned "care" and "precision". These two habits that have stayed with me throughout my caree
1999 – 2017
Rose from a frontline sales executive to branch manager, overseeing operations, finance, and HR for an entire branch. 18 years of hands-on experience gave me a real understanding of "business."
2017 – 2024
Helping wife in her education business & started my own business, running diverse ventures - course/event planning, e-commerce, solar projects, and homestays. Each venture caught its own moment of opportunity and brought real gains. Of course, there were plenty of challenges too, every leap taught me more about what business truly means.
2025 – 现在
Starting fresh, channeling 30 years of business experience into digital marketing and funnel design - building lead-generation systems with soul for small and medium businesses.
That "Failing Grade" Was My Best Teacher
As a beginner, I entered my instructor’s Redesign activity. 97% passed. I was in the 3% that didn’t!

As a newcomer, I knew I wasn’t really qualified to enter. But with the mindset of “even fail is learning,” I signed up and submitted my work seriously.

When results came out, 97% passed, 3% didn’t, and I was one of them. No excuses. My work genuinely had problems.

Humbly Learned, Adjusted, and Passed
I humbly listened to my instructor’s feedback to understand what went wrong, revised my work, and resubmitted. I finally passed. That certificate was truly earned through failure.
